Wig Attachment Methods
Learn about different ways to attach wigs and keep them secure. From adjustable straps to lace fronts, this guide covers the best methods to ensure your wig stays in place and fits perfectly.
Many people wonder how to attach a wig and prevent it from falling off. Which attachment method is the best? Do you always need complicated tapes or glue? Well, you don’t need any special measures to make the wig fit snugly.
Full wigs have adjustable straps on the back that allow you to adjust the cap’s circumference to your own head. This is by far the most comfortable wig attachment method. A good fit ensures that the wig stays in place during any activity. If you have a mono-top wig or a traditional cap, you don’t even need adhesive or tape, the wig stays on perfectly. With such a wig, you can even run or do other sports.
Sometimes wigs have combs or clip-in clips, which is an additional attachment that you can put in your hair. However, if you are completely bald, we recommend mono-top wigs – they don’t irritate your scalp. However, if you want to customize such a wig to your needs – let us know and we will make such a modification for you!
Applying lace front wigs, on the other hand, takes a little longer but is not complicated! You need to cut the front lace and use glue (e.g., got2be, available at any drugstore) to perfectly match the wig’s edge to the scalp – don’t worry, you can wash it off later with warm water. Alternatively, you can also wear the wig with tape. Otherwise, such a wig can fall off or slip. The lace front is not a good option for people who want a quick wig application.
Remember, if you have hair, you should first pin it up or preferably braid it into a flat braid and evenly distribute it over your entire head before putting on the wig, so that there are no bumps.
SOME OTHER GREAT TIPS FOR ATTACHING A WIG
You can buy a special wig headband to ensure it doesn’t slip off.
Wear the wig by pressing it against your forehead and pulling it tightly at the back to ensure the cap is fully on. Remember the adjustable straps that every wig has and adjust them before putting it on to perfectly fit your head!
If you feel the wig is not secure, you can use additional hairpins, pins, or combs.
How to Secure Your Wig: Overview of Attachment Methods
If you’re wondering how to secure your wig and prevent it from slipping or falling off, there are several attachment methods to choose from. Are complicated tapes and glues necessary? Not necessarily. Here’s what you need to know to ensure your wig stays in place.
Full wigs come with adjustable straps on the back that allow you to adjust the circumference of the cap to your head size. This is the most comfortable attachment method, and a good fit ensures that the wig stays secure during any activity. If you have a mono-top wig or a traditional cap, you don’t even need adhesive or tape to keep it in place. With such a wig, you can even participate in sports or other physical activities.
Some wigs come with combs or clip-in attachments that you can attach to your hair. However, if you’re completely bald, we recommend mono-top wigs, which don’t irritate the scalp. If you need a customized fit, let us know and we’ll make modifications for you.
Lace front wigs require a bit more effort to attach, but it’s not complicated. You need to cut the front lace and use glue (e.g., got2be, available at any drugstore) to match the wig’s edge to the scalp perfectly. Alternatively, you can use tape. Without proper attachment, the wig could easily fall off or slip. However, lace front wigs are not ideal for those who want a quick and easy wig application.
Remember to pin up or braid your hair evenly across your head before wearing a wig to prevent any bumps or unevenness.
