Pool, Sleep, Vacation – What to Do with Natural Weaves?

What to do at the beach or pool?

If you’re going to the beach or pool, remember to protect your hair from aggressors (sun, salt, chlorine…) with special products. If you swim, tie your hair back or wear a swim cap (there are now very cute ones available…). After swimming, rinse your hair immediately with fresh water. Once you get home, wash your hair following our advice below.

How should I wash my weaves?

Always brush or comb and detangle hair extensions before washing, never comb, brush or detangle wet hair.

After swimming, rinse your hair immediately with fresh water. Once you get home, wash your hair following the advice below.

Before washing: Before washing your hair, remove all knots by brushing from the ends of the hair and working up to the roots. It is important not to pull on the hair to avoid damaging it. For curly hair, do not brush. Use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb. If necessary, you can use a detangling spray. Washing: First, it is important to wash your hair with your head upright. Never wash your hair with your head down to avoid tangling your hair. Use a gentle, moisturizing shampoo. Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water. Take care to wash your weave and also the hair underneath. Gently massage your scalp, do not rub. You can then apply shampoo to the length of your weaves. Rinse with warm water several times, letting the water flow over your scalp.

Conditioning: To keep your hair shiny and prevent knots, apply a detangling conditioner or leave-in conditioner to your hair with the same gentleness, without rubbing. Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly again (refer to the instructions of the products used).

Drying: It is very important to dry your hair well. It is best to let your hair air dry. Otherwise, start with a soft towel without rubbing, then use a hair dryer on low heat (not hot air) holding it at least 15 cm away from your hair. Styling: Once your hair is dry, style as usual. Start with your fingers, starting at the tips. Then finish with a wide-toothed comb.

We recommend washing your hair every 2 weeks depending on your environment’s needs.

Can I sleep with weaves?

We recommend braiding your hair at night for easier detangling the next morning. Protecting your weave at night is also very important. The friction on the pillowcase can cause many hairs to break and knots to form. To avoid this, protect them with a silk or satin scarf.
